- NEH, ALA announce We the People Bookshelf awards for 3,000 libraries
Thursday, April 10, 2008 - The American Library Association (ALA) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) have selected 3,000 school and public libraries throughout the country to receive a collection of 17 classic books from the We the People Bookshelf project. The theme of this year’s Bookshelf is “Created Equal.”

Tuesday, March 25, 2008 - The American Library Association’s Public Programs Office, the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), and Oprah’s Angel Network have selected 173 libraries to receive Great Stories CLUB grants, which will support book discussion programs targeting troubled teens.

Monday, March 17, 2008 - The South Carolina State Library is pleased to announce the selection of the most notable South Carolina state government documents of 2007. The selection is announced annually on or near Freedom of Information Day, March 16, the birthday of President James Madison, an early proponent of citizen access to government information.
