SC Arts Commission Expands Administrative and Grants Support

COLUMBIA, S.C. --The South Carolina Arts Commission welcomes new hires Jillian B. Owens and Jessica Galvano.

Owens, a 2006 graduate of the University of South Carolina, joins the agency’s grants office team. She will process grant applications and related correspondence, and serve as a liaison with agency staff as they assist constituents with grants-related inquiries.  In addition, Owens will help coordinate grants panels.

With a bachelor’s degree in theatre, Owens previously worked as a stage manager for various organizations, including Theatre South Carolina and the Carolina Hip Hop Company. She has also held various retail management positions in the Midlands area.

Galvano joins the agency as an administrative assistant for the executive director, deputy director and senior manager. She has a wide range of administrative experience in the fields of mental health, medical, law and real estate.

In her new role, Galvano will assist executive staff with a number of key tasks, including collecting and compiling agency data, as well as handling inquiries and requests from legislators, national arts administrators and congressional leaders. She will also assist with budget preparation and board communications.
