COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Arts Commission has awarded Quarterly Project Support grants to three arts organizations and three artists from across the state. Quarterly grants have been awarded to:
Quarterly Grants for Artists
• Julianna Gaillard Hane, Calhoun County, $966 to attend an aerial dance skills workshop to learn new skills and techniques.
• Axel Forrester, Pickens County, $1,000 to update her Web site and design new marketing materials.
• Robert Michael Holliday, Pickens County, $1,000 for the purchase of studio equipment to create new music.
Quarterly Grants for Organizations
• Hindu Temple & Cultural Center, Lexington, $500 to organize the India Day Festival 2006.
• New Works Group, Inc., Horry County, $1,000 to stage a theatrical production of original plays created by local playwrights and music performed by local artists.
• Belton Area Museum Association, Anderson County, $1,000 to organize the 2006 Heritage Days at the Depot.
“We want to see artists succeed in our state,” said SC Arts Commission Executive Director Suzette Surkamer. “These grants support our ambition by encouraging artistic growth and the economic well-being of artists and arts organizations in South Carolina.”
Quarterly grants are available to arts organizations and to individual artists for a wide variety of quality arts projects and programs, and/or for professional development opportunities. Awards of up to $1,000 are provided for project support. The program is funded in part by a gift from the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina, www.ccfgives.org.
