COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Arts Commission has awarded Quarterly Project Support grants to five arts organizations across the state.
Those arts organizations are:
• City of Dillon, Dillon County, $1,000 to organize an outdoor public sculpture exhibit.
• The Community Workshop Choir, Anderson County, $1,000 to finance a shape note singing training workshop.
• Oconee Conservatory of Fine Arts, Oconee County, $1,000 to offer spring semester art classes.
• SC Hispanic Leadership Council, Richland County, $1,000 to organize a poetry contest for Hispanic youth this spring.
• Town of Ridgeway, Fairfield County, $1,000 to hold a community arts festival in May.
“One of the Arts Commission’s goals is to help support a variety of valuable arts projects,” said SC Arts Commission Executive Director Suzette Surkamer. “Quarterly grants not only help organizations fund these activities, but also help pay for the professional development needed to learn how to effectively organize them.”
Quarterly grants are available to arts organizations and to individual artists for a wide variety of arts projects and programs, and/or for professional development opportunities. Awards of up to $1,000 are provided for project support. The program is funded in part by a gift from the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina, www.ccfgives.org.
The next deadline for Quarterly Project Support and Cultural Visions grant applications is May 15 for projects beginning July – September 2007. For complete guidelines and eligibility requirements, visit www.SouthCarolinaArts.com or call (803) 734-8696.
