SC Arts Commission Awards Fourth Quarter Cultural Visions Grants

COLUMBIA , S.C. – The South Carolina Arts Commission has awarded Cultural Visions grants to Piedmont Technical College, Greenwood County; and to Newberry Community Players, Newberry County.

A $20,000 implementation grant has been awarded to Piedmont Technical College to assist them with the construction of a pottery center in Edgefield County. A $2,500 planning grant has been awarded to Newberry Community Players to help the organization prepare for the renovation of the Historic Ritz Theatre in Downtown Newberry.

“We're always eager to work with organizations that desire to make the arts more accessible to their local citizens,” said SC Arts Commission Executive Director Suzette Surkamer.“ Cultural Visions grants help these organizations achieve their mission of enhancing the cultural health and economic well-being of their communities.”

The goal of Cultural Visions is to support economic development through the arts and encourage partnerships between cultural and economic development agencies, particularly in underserved areas of the state. Initial planning grants are made up to $2,500 and advanced planning grants are made up to $10,000. Implementation grants are made up to $20,000.
