Press Release:

COLUMBIA, SC — South Carolina’s military history museum is adding to its Internet presence by launching a page on Facebook.  The SC Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum’s Facebook page features photo albums, videos, and other information about the museum and staff.

Over the past year, the museum has been using new online marketing techniques to target a younger demographic while seeking to expand its traditional audience.  In addition to the Facebook page, the museum also has a YouTube page that currently features over 30 videos, a TeacherTube page, a monthly e-newsletter, and three websites (www.crr.sc.gov, www.crrteach.sc.gov, www.wftf.sc.gov).

“We are excited about these opportunities to network with the online community and increase our visibility on the Internet as we are always looking for new ways to educate the public about the military history of South Carolina,” said museum director Allen Roberson.

To access the museum’s Facebook page, you must have an account with the site. To find the page, enter the museum’s name into the Facebook search box.  If you become a fan of the page, you will receive information about upcoming events and exhibits, as well as access to photo albums and videos.

Founded in 1896, the SC Confederate Relic Room and Military Museum is the oldest museum in the Columbia area. The museum focuses on South Carolina’s military history from the Revolutionary War to the present War on Terror.
