Press Release:

COLUMBIA – A group of Blythewood High School students has been selected for the All-Health Team, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.

“Health Science Technology students and members of Blythewood High’s Health Occupations Students of America developed a project that addresses healthy diets, exercise, heart disease and high blood pressure in a creative way that elementary students can enjoy,” said Joann Moton Minder, coordinator of the All-Health Team.

“They researched healthy diets, heart disease and hypertension, created PowerPoint presentations, a nutrition display board and certificates for each participant,” Minder said.

According to Minder, 18 of the students became certified in CPR during the project.

“The students have plans to show other schools and community groups how to duplicate this project,” Minder said.

For being named to the All-Health Team, the Blythewood students will receive a $500 grant, t-shirts and other All-Health Team items, recognition on the All-Health Team Web site and a television spot on WIS-TV in Columbia.

DHEC and WIS-TV sponsor the All-Health Team. Each month, the partnership recognizes an individual or youth group promoting health in their community.
