COLUMBIA – The All-Health Team will hold its 2008 awards ceremony on Tuesday, May 6 at 10 a.m. at The Cecil Tillis Center in Columbia, the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control announced today.
“DHEC is extremely proud to be a sponsor of the All-Health Team. We salute these eight monthly winners for practicing preventive health and health promotion through good nutrition, exercise and community service,” said Joann Moton Minder, coordinator of the All-Health Team. “We look forward to the 2008-2009 year and to
recognizing more young leaders for their contributions to improving public health.”
WIS-TV news reporter Lucas McFadden will host the event. Entertainment will be provided by Nathalie Stewart of W.G. Sanders Elementary School. Presentations will also be given by Rage Against the Haze and the S.C. Eat Smart, Move More Coalition. The year’s top three award winners will be announced at the conclusion of the ceremony.
During the awards ceremony, the eight All-Health Team monthly winners will be recognized. Those winners are:
- DIVA, Incorporated’s DIVAS Healthy Lifestyle project of Columbia
- Estill Elementary School’s Asthma Awareness project
- Lancaster High School’s “Save our Skin” Cancer Awareness project
- Estill Elementary School’s Water Works project
- Chapin Elementary School’s Nutrition on the Run project
- Manning Elementary School’s Monarch Cloggers
- Getty’s Middle School’s Reading and Riding project
- Blythewood High School’s Living Healthy project
DHEC and WIS-TV have sponsored the All-Health Team since 2003. It recognizes students in kindergarten through 12th grade who promote health in their schools and communities.
