COLUMBIA, S.C. - The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control has issued an emergency closure for shellfish beds within waters associated with Hamlin Creek, and waters south of Hamlin Creek to Charleston Harbor, the agency reported today.
“The areas will remain closed until water quality sampling indicates bacteria levels are safe for shellfish harvesting,” said Mike Pearson, manager of DHEC’s Shellfish Sanitation program.
