Columbia – The South Carolina Education Oversight Committee, in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Education, New Carolina – SC’s Council on Competitiveness, SC Commission for Minority Affairs, Doctors Care, Total Comfort, SC Press Association, and the SC Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association, has published a guide for parents and families preparing for school to begin.
Over 700,000 copies of the “Back-to-School Guide for South Carolina Parents and Families, 2007-2008” were printed and distributed statewide today. The guide is being included in copies of each of South Carolina’s 16 daily newspapers, in addition to The Black News. Additional copies were sent to school districts, pediatricians’ offices, and county libraries statewide.
The guide, which is also available in Spanish, provides information and available resources for parents and families to use to support their children in the upcoming school year.
“Ensuring that each of our children receives a quality education is a team effort,” stated Dr. Jo Anne Anderson, Education Oversight Committee Executive Director. “The most important members of the team are educators and parents, committed to the success of our young people.”
The guide is available online in English in Spanish. To download a copy, visit the Education Oversight Committee’s website at www.eoc.sc.gov, or the websites of the partner organizations listed below.
