ORANGEBURG, SC – The 2007 South Carolina Agritourism Summit will be held on Wednesday, September 12 at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, 3250 St. Matthews Rd. in Orangeburg, SC.
The 2007 Summit will be sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture and the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor Farmers Association. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Hugh Weathers, Commissioner of Agriculture, and Dr. Ann Crook, President of Orangeburg Calhoun Tech, will welcome the participants to the Summit at 9:00 a.m.
The Morning Program will include “Branding the Family Farm” with Ansley Rast, Certified SC Grown Coordinator, and concurrent breakout sessions on “Grant Funding – What’s available?” and “National Animal Identification Survey.”
Following lunch, the Afternoon Program will include “Setting Standards in NC – An Overview of Legislative Action in NC,” and concurrent breakout sessions on “USDA-Standards in Animal Care and Well-being” and “Driving Group Tours – A Guide to Attracting Motorcoach Tours to the Family Farm.”
Registration, which includes a seat at the meeting, materials, and lunch, is $20 per person by September 5, 2007. Those registering after September 5th will pay a late registration fee of $25.
Participants are invited to bring business cards, brochures, farm t-shirts, and any other promotional items to the conference to cross-market and network with other South Carolina farms.
Evin Evans, Heritage Corridor Farmers Association Chair, will close the 2007 South Carolina Agritourism Summit. Immediately following the 2007 Summit, the Heritage Corridor Farmers Association will hold a brief annual meeting which is expected to conclude at 4 p.m.
