Press Release:

PELION, SC – Walter P. Rawl & Sons, Inc., in Pelion, SC has joined other fresh produce companies to participate in the American Heart Association Food Certification Program.

Displayed on their 1-pound and 2-pound Nature’s Greens Bags of Collards will be the association’s familiar heart-check mark. In order to qualify for this symbol, vegetables must meet the American Heart Association’s food criteria for cholesterol and saturated fat for healthy people ages 2 years and older.

“This is an excellent way to show consumers buying our collards that we are genuinely interested in their health.”  “We think this will be a great marketing opportunity for our company” according to Ashley Rawl, Director of Sales, Marketing and Promotions.

Bagged collards qualified for food certification by the American Heart Association in August 2007, and the heart-check mark will appear on bagged collards shipped in late December 2007.

Walter P. Rawl & Sons, Inc. value added collard greens join other produce, namely, Chiquita Bananas and California Giant Strawberries, in this effort.
