State Library Announces Free Online Summer Reading Resources

Columbia, S.C. – Are you looking for creative summer reading ideas?  The South Carolina State Library SchoolRooms staff recently created a host of summer reading resources for K-12 students statewide.  These resources are focused on the “Be Creative @ Your Library” campaign and highlight many free online resources summer readers are sure to enjoy!  There are links to reliable and library-approved web sites ranging from art to poetry to music and especially about what to read during summer vacation.

SchoolRooms provides resources, built around school curriculum, to assist students with homework and school projects. Search your library’s catalog, educational websites, and selected DISCUS databases all at once.  Designed not just for students, SchoolRooms includes practical and relevant guides to assist parents, educators, and librarians.  For more information about SchoolRooms and to access the summer reading resources, visit http://scsl.schoolrooms.net or contact Amanda Stone, SchoolRooms training and development coordinator at 803-734-4816.
