State Supported Special Schools
- Felton Laboratory School
- A Professional Development School for the teacher education program at South Carolina State University. The organization of the school includes a Kindergarten class, a non-graded Lower School and a Middle School.
- Governor's School for Science and Mathematics
- A public residential high school which serves academically advanced juniors and seniors studying science and mathematics.
- Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities
- A public residential high school which serves artistically gifted high school students studying creative writing, dance, drama, music and visual arts.
- John de la Howe School
- A state-supported residential group child-care agency with a primary purpose of assisting at-risk children and families.
- School for the Deaf and the Blind
- Offers programs for individuals who are deaf, blind or sensory multidisabled at its main campus and regional centers located throughout the state.
- Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School
- The school, in partnership with the South Carolina National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Academy, provides an alternative education to youths between 16 and 18 years of age.
