The South Carolina Secretary of State's Office offers many of its filings to the public online. By using the Business Entities Online system, users may:

- Search existing entities and registered agent information and
- Obtain certified copies of corporate documents and certificates of existence.
The Uniform Commercial Code Electronic Filing, Search & Retrieval system allows users to:
- Search UCC filings,
- File financial statements and other UCC documents and
- Receive copies of UCC documents on file.
The Charities Online system allows charities to register and file required reports online. Professional fundraisers and solicitors may also file required documents online.

Online Services (scdmvonline.com) can be accessed without visiting a South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) office or mailing in a form.
To use the SCDMV online services, you must identify yourself by entering your:
- Driver's license number,
- Identification card number or
- Vehicle plate number.
Certain transactions require additional identifying information to protect your privacy.
Several transactions require payment by one of the following debit/credit card types (Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express). Those transactions are marked with a “$” on the website.
Your online payment will be processed by SC.GOV, the state’s official Web portal. The payment will include fees, charged by SC.GOV, that are used to develop, maintain, enhance and expand the service offerings of the state's portal.

Please note: It takes approximately three to five business days (one full week from the issue date) for tickets to be entered into the online case records.

Court Payments | SC.GOV. - Simply choose the county or municipality in which you received the ticket, and enter your last name and case number.
- When entering your case number, be sure to enter the letters and number as one continuous word with NO spaces.
- If it has been more than a week since you received your traffic ticket, and you are unable to locate your case online, contact the traffic or Magistrate Court of the area in which you received the ticket.

The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) has created a Driver’s License Practice Exam that includes sample questions from its storehouse of exam questions. You can take the Driver’s License Practice Exam as often as you like to prepare for the test and to ensure you know SC driving laws and regulations. The test questions change each time you start a new test. If three minutes of inactivity occurs during the exam, you will be forced to restart the exam.

There is no set way of becoming a South Carolina resident. Generally, you would:
- Obtain a South Carolina Driver's License/ID Card,
- Register your vehicle/boat in South Carolina,
- Change your Voter Registration to South Carolina and
- Pay income taxes in South Carolina.
Unless you are trying to prove residency for a specific purpose/agency, there are no set requirements.
