
Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities
The newly created South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (SCDBHDD) is comprised of the Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, the Office of Mental Health and the Office of Substance Use Services. This agency is responsible for coordinating services for individuals with behavioral health and developmental needs, ensuring community-based support aligns with federal regulations, managing state resources and facilities related to mental health and disabilities and overseeing policies and program development to enhance these services.
The SCDBHDD replaces three agencies: the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services (daodas.sc.gov), the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (ddsn.sc.gov) and the South Carolina Department of Mental Health (scdmh.org).

SCDCA includes Continuum of Care (COC), the Foster Care Review Division (FCRD), the Guardian ad Litem Program (GAL) and the South Carolina Heart Gallery (SCHG).
